2017 art resolutions!!
Can you believe another new year is almost upon us ?? Crazy, but true! Well, with 2017 (and Black Friday) nearly here, it's time to start planning ahead and part of that is mapping out our 2017 wants ! So what are your art goals for 2017? Who do you want to commission and what published pieces are you resolving to add to your collection ?
And how'd you make out on your 2016 resolutions ? Did you manage to keep your 2016 art resolutions ?

I always enjoyed seeing my resolutions from years past. This one should be fun. My 2017 resolution, DONT BUY ART! Done buying comic art and prints. With my fav book scheduled to end in 2017, I'll be leaving the hobby for good. It's been fun and an amazing lesson in a great many things, but, I'll be a ghost in the new year.

I've tried no art years before, and failed miserably lol! Hope you fail at that too Lolol. I also enjoy looking back at resolutions to see if I succeeded or failed. Last year I resolved to get Sean Murphy and Skotie Young. Did well there, but failed at getting Stelfreeze who was another 2016 resolution.

My resolutions for 2016 went fairly well. I picked up a Starman page and Tom Grummett Thunderbolts page. I also completed not one, but two of my reaction headshot jams.
My 2017 resolutions are basically what I didn't get:
1) An interior page from G.I. Joe 59, 60, or 61.
2) An interior page from the Saltares/Texeira 90s Ghost Rider run.
and to be a little more specific with my commission resolutions
3) Get George Perez, Phil Jimenez, Mike Grell, Todd Nauck, and Kevin Maguire to contribute to a reaction headshot jam.

My 2016 resolution List:
2016 for me looks like this:
Jae Lee (this is all set-up) - almost completed. despite the wait, from what I've seen thus far, this might be one of the best in my collection
Mike Huddleston (almost done) - finished, came out phenomenal
Geoff Shaw (pick-up in Seattle)finished, came out phenomenal
Alessandro Micelli (already set-up)completed
Clay Mann (might see this one before the end of the year...really excited about this one)completed
Wants
SGM piece at Seattle (Possible) - unsuccessful
Another Scalera Recreation (Possible) - completed at ECCC
Another Risso Commission - scored as a grail-level piece courtesy of my new pal Shannon
Opena Cover (I want this every year) - still on the hunt
Mark Brooks - not even close
Mcniven - not even close
I did manage to snag 4 covers in 2016. Shalvey, Golden, JSA Empty Zone, and my all-time favorite cover from my all-time favorite artist (i'll leave this as a surprise because its supposed to show up in the mail tomorrow). Add in a great Robinson piece, 4 pieces from my new favorite artist, Arturo Lauria, Matt Allison, and a Punisher from the Late Great Steve Dillon, it was a an amazing collecting year for me.
I also parted with almost 50 pieces in my collection. This served to fund my BIG purchases of the year. Definitely let go some pieces that I loved, but I'm pretty happy with the pieces I reinvested in.
For 2017, my main goals are
1)JRJR Punisher Splash page
2) Dell'otto Painting
If I land either of those, it will be a great year!

2016 was a Banner year.
Goal for 2017 - slow down and part of that is not making resolutions.

I'm looking to get another piece from Grummett. And one from Pelletier. But that might just be a dream. I don't attend cons.

My 2017 resolution? I'd like to get a few more covers. As far as commissions, hoping for Stelfreeze.
