No.

Though I supose if your desperate for certain reasons it could make sense.

But lets just say life is good otherwise.

No way.

And miss out on the statues coming down the road in those trade off years? No. Absolutely not.

And if I could have every single toy or statue I want with no problem...don't want that either. If you can have everything/anything, to me, specialness is diminished.

Maybe I need some of this.

Time is relative it moves the same for us all but it's unique to each person as well.
If you are 60 and in great health or 30 and in poor health extra years would be very different.
That being said I would take the money and enjoy my time I had left with it.

This discussion started because it seems so many people spend their working lives wishing their days away anyway. They get to work on a Monday morning and wish for the end of the day / week. I know in the past, I have jobs where I've felt like that myself.

It's not so much about being uber rich, but more about having enough money to do whatever you want with the time you do have.

But it would also mean you could spend as much time with your family as you wanted to, and not just what work allowed you to.

And yes, money can do horrible things to some people, but so can a lack of it. I know a few people with very little money who are absolute jerks, and vice versa.

Well considering how I'm going to live to be over 100 and that it would be the years that I will probably be senile and sitting in a pool of my own piss that I'll be losing, I say yes!

You know money can't buy happiness.

But it can buy a hell of a lot of original comic book artwork.

Having worked in a nursing home back in college, I remember hoping I would never be in a position to feel as dependant on others for so much just to get through the day... To answer the Q, if I'm healthy, I'd pass on the cash, otherwise, bring it on!

It's interesting that you say that.

My mother is 73, financially independent, and lives like a 30 year old. She flies to Atlantic city once a month, has a blast at the various casinos and malls, always buys the grandkids tons of presents, is a major concert goer, and if the opportunity presents itself, will jump at the chance to have the type of fun most people might think would be well beyond her years.

What keeps my mother that young at heart is fluid cash (definitely helps), tons of vanity (her cosmetic surgeon adores her), and an immence amount of "I don't care what people think" ideals. She shows very few signs of slowing down too.

Life sometimes is as much about attitude as it is about age. I have friends in their 30s and 40s who act more like they're 70. They stay at home, rarely go out, watch way too much television, show little interest in making new friends or trying new things, and constantly worry about the future. Whereas my mother has generally thrived by making things happen for herself and staying away from the trappings of too much routine.
