I would like to know how many diamond dust art prints Sideshow have sold for $4000.00 ?
I always have to keep in the back of my mind that a 1:1 bust is the same price as 10-15 1:6 Tweeterhead statues. That helps me from buying too. LOL

setting up my shelves and display room really opened up the possibility of bringing things to a close, or at least a crawl. not having the kind of space i just always figured i would have (never displayed so many large statues together) has really put things into perspective. really awesome statues i had planned on buying im passing on anticipating characters i REALLY want eventually being made. its nice though, i feel like things had gotten out of hand for me the last couple years

I also had lost myself about 5-6 years ago in this hobby but snapped out of it and sold off most of my SS PFs. There were just so many boxes I couldn't move around in my garage. The addiction will always be there but getting it under control takes some time.

I started collecting in 2017. ARH's Greek mythology line was what pulled me in. I came into this hobby thinking I would only collect Myth related pieces, but then I found out about the FB groups and companies like SS, P1, etc, and that sentiment went right out the window. But after a couples years of collecting above my means, I've now committed my collection to strictly DCEU/MCU, and Mythology pieces, with a once or two miscellaneous pieces here and there. And at first I thought this strategy would relive some of the pressure, but then out came QS and IS with their LSB

To answer your question, I don't think I'll ever stop collecting, not as long as I'm a comic fan...But I'm not addicted. I can stop whenever I want to...just not now...

Isn't the whole point of being a collector or joining a hobby to participate in it and strategize on what's worth getting and what's not as things evolve around you? That applies to just about any hobby...

I guess I just see this from a completely different perspective...

A collection of ~50 luxury watches could easily cost more than my house (it does look pretty cool though, he has it on a "watch wall"). Same goes for trendy art, film memorabilia, runway fashion, jewelry, vehicles, elaborate tech, hifi audio collections, extravagant travelling, etc. Or could spend the same on casinos, dates and parties.

I can't get into those other hobbies but this hobby is fun, nostalgic, relatively chill and generally low risk... all is well IMO...

Mine started when I first ordered a Poison Ivy figure from Batman: The Animated Series (back in the 90s) and have been hooked since. I do sometimes go through phases where I barely collect anything and then maybe the next year I'm sucked right back in.

I have been collecting for a long time. In addition to statues, I also built model kits. Mostly I collect 1/6 scale and smaller. Space availability and cost made me cut my spending. One thing that I always remind myself is just because it is nice, it doesn't mean that I have to own it. So far it works very well with the model kits especially dinosaur kits. I can focus more on dioramas that tells a story.

I said this in the Chronicle thread about them taking everyone's money.

Once you eliminate the FOMO mentality, the hobby becomes more manageable.

Seems to be working for me.

I've collected since I was 16 or so. 20 years later and I am certainly more focused but I wont ever stop. I really don't pre-order much these days either unless it's something really special like The Child from Sideshow.
