Toy Story 4

TOY STORY 4 Coming In 2017, Tom Hanks and Tim Allen Return With John Lasseter Directing
The trilogy wrapped up the story so nicely. And the annual shorts were acceptable, but another sequel was not what I was expecting.

I have very mixed feelings about this.

Mostly -- why?! It ended perfectly!

My thoughts exactly. 3 was a perfect cap to a near perfect trilogy. Hope this doesn't end up a stain on the franchise just because they had to dip into the pot one more time.

Did you really expect them to stop with the third film after the franchise's huge success?

I agree. The first three were magic but without the change up of Andy's maturation for the third the series was already in danger of getting stale and formulaic.

For all the films Disney has done the Rescuers was the only film pre Toy Story 2 to get a theatrically released sequel (though Disney did milk the crappy direct to video sequels for their run of classics through the 90's). I mention this only because that studio in particular has not historically released sequels despite a potential economic boon.
