I figure it's a matter of weeks before they officially announce that Favreau is Directing. Of all the names left floating out there I just see him as being the safest and most logical choice from the studio's perspective. He wouldn't be my first choice but I think he's competent enough.

Not really my first choice (that would be JJ Abrams), but Vaughan is a very talented director and does an excellent job with actors. If true I'm looking forward to seeing how it pans out. If not Abrams and Brad Bird are still in the running.
