I got it. It is supported by an extended "peg" which goes into the base. A little heavier gauge than a coat hanger.. well, a regular peg that they use!
Anyway, he hovers about 1.5" over the base. He is very light and seemingly hollow. Almost seems like plastic vs. CCP.

They need to do a Batman:Cover to Cover I have the 3-D Batman (Batman #1, Batman #4) covers that were put out by the WBSS. Gallery back in the Day they are awesome would love to see a Detective comics #27 cover done this way I am attaching pics of mine incase anyone is not familiar with them
