It was very unique and good. It could have been great with better bad guys. Alita herself really surprised me, great character.

Agreed. The reason I wanted to see this movie aside from the awesome visuals was a line I heard Alita say in the trailer. "I do not stand by in the presence of evil." Her character felt like Cap's in many ways. I also liked the fact that it was a movie with a strong female lead that didn't feel the need to minimize the male characters in the film by making them bumbling buffoons or evil. I thought it was a great flick and I'm not sure the Captain Marvel movie will handle things as well as this film has with regards to that dynamic. I guess we'll find out in a few weeks. In the meantime, Alita Battle Angel was a pleasant surprise.

the sewer fight ending was the biggest holy cow moment in the film and cemented Alita as the biggest female badass in cinema for the last decade for me lol

That scene was one of my favorite panels in the entire comic, I was so surprised (and beyond excited) to see it in the movie!

I can't wait to see this. I did my Thesis and gallery showcase on Transhumanism when I graduated in 1998 and part of the inspiration was reading the Battle Angel Alita books. I'm hearing good things about the film so far. I'm not a fan of Anime but Ghost in the Shell, Macross Plus,Ninja Scroll and Gunnm ( Battle Angel) are excellent.

With all the stellar reviews from the general public I've read, why isn't this movie doing better at the box office in North America?
Like Venom, it's making crazy money in China though.

Because people are sheep and look at the rotten tomatoes ratings. We need to get the word out to all our friends and family to go out and enjoy this awesome movie

I don't know, looked pretty terrible to me from the previews. Just no interest at all.
