It is accurate but what’s the chance of you holding on to a TV (as your primary one) for 10-20 years? New technology would definitely have you trading up long before your picture shows any sign of degredation.
Hey, what it all boils down to is what you like. Go to stores with an open mind and if you like the picture and features on any given set, regardless of the type, get it!
Also, you may want to check the picture the TV gets from some other source than the video loop they use in many stores. DVDs tend to make the picture look 100 times better than it would with normal analog, digital, or HD reception
