I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

I'm not familiar with Ghost in the Shell. Why are you so surprised, is it controversial or something?

Ghost in the Shell is a classic sci-fi/cyberpunk anime based on the manga of the same title which I really like. The thing is that I don't like the idea of a live action version of Ghost. Look at the live action film of Dragonball and how Hollywood handled the fan favorite anime/manga. Also look how the Last Airbender (non-anime though) was handled. If Scarlet Johansson is going to be given the role of Major Motoko Kusanagi, then why bother. Since it's going to be under Disney, I'm afraid that it's going to be watered down, nothing like the anime or manga. That's just my two cents.

I really don't understand this argument. I agree that both the live action films of Dragonball and Airbender were terrible, but did they change your perception of the original animated series? My guess is no, no they didn't. So why does it matter to people when a book, an anime, or a video game is adapted to the big screen? If the original source is that precious to you then don't go see the movie. Simple as that. It's existence doesn't somehow undo the greatness you originally experienced.

My thing is why can't the live action flicks be as good as the animated series? Actually I would like to see a change for once. It seems that you may end up watching Ghost in the Shell, if so, then enjoy the movie when it comes out.

Seems like an odd question. You might as well ask 'why aren't all movies great'?

I will definitely be watching Ghost in the Shell. I will be able to judge it on it's own merits and it will have no effect on how I view the anime.
