Starship Troopers Reboot

Producer Megan Ellison of Annapurna Pictures posted the following tweet, few minutes later followed it up with another tweet along with the pic.

She produced movies like The Master, Zero Dark Thirty, Her, American Hustle and the upcoming Foxcatcher.

Starship Troopers was a cult classic, I think it's a bad idea trying to remake it... just like the remake of the cult classic Robocop, nothing good could come form it..

Anything could make Starship Troopers better. I thought it was terrible.

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

No need to reboot, original was great. The special effects hold up nicely as well.

I also loved the original movie. The bug planet special FX was ahead of it's time...

Ugh. Verhoeven movies just have a cool watchable quality -- Total Recall, RoboCop, Starship Troopers. ST had a quirky style, cast, art direction and satirical propaganda-influenced storyline that just worked. The formula has been impossible to replicate. Even the sequels were terrible. This is typical Hollywood recycling ideas. Verhoeven movies are firmly rooted in the 90s. While I thought the RoboCop remake was okay but nowhere near as cool as the original the Total Recall redo was dreadful.
