So, how are the dead marching past the mountain? Going over it, through it, around it? Interesting. I always thought the Night King brings the cold with him, so maybe he can freeze the water so the dead can walk on it; therefore, going around the wall?

If that were the case couldn't he have just followed John Snow and the Wildlings through the lake when they fled?

Hmm, he had to replenish his magic points after raising all of those dead at once.

That sounds about right. The long night comes, the Night King brings it wherever he goes.
Like that Static X song, Cold we're so cold, We are! So cold we're so co-old! He's so cold he can freeze the seas. Wow, that is cold. And, again the idea of a dead frozen ice breathing dragon, imagine that could help freeze some water. But seriously, I don't want to see any of the dragons die!

And you changed you're avatar, John! You best not have done it because of my unsettledness to the little gray open mouth freakazoid. I think ever since I saw the twilight zone movie as a kid, odd shaped mouths - or lack thereof - really freak me out more than they should.
|
I don't want to give you nightmare fuel so no big deal. It is freaky looking. The mouth is made like that because that is a bottle opener.

Maybe he did...later
I don't know if there was some dry land connecting that village where Jon fought them, but the dead are heading south so if there is not land around the body of water and I don't think they use boats...

Have you guys noticed in the intro that the sea to the East of The Wall is now frozen where it once was not? Nice little touch of foreshadowing if this is how the Army of the Dead get through, by crossing the frozen sea and "going around The Wall." I'm assuming the area Jon Snow sent Tormund is where The Wall meets the Eastern Sea and fear this my be the setting for a climactic battle and possibly the end of our Wildling friend as well as The Brotherhood Without Banners, as I'm assuming there headed there too.

Yeah I noticed that. Given that even in Summer the beyond the wall is snowy and cold it makes sense that the winter is cold enough to freeze massive bodies of water.
