2019 Art Collecting Goals

In the fine tradition of Ari in 2017 and the mysterious Mr M in 2018, what are you goals for 2019?

As I look back on 2018 I had probably my best year for collecting. I got stand out pieces from artists I never thought I would get, some covers, some old favorites, and then I realized: WOAH I SPENT A WHEE BIT MUCH THIS YEAR!

I also neglected to upload any to caf.

I'm resolving to spend less on art in 2019, by skipping some conventions and saving myself from this addiction. Good thing I already have SDCC and NYCC scheduled and two commissions already set up for next year. I'm off to a stellar start y'all!

Moderation for me as well.

I think I need to focus on my actual goals instead of being swayed by a good deal or a price or some insider access to commissions.

1. I do not have a Tim Sale piece, and that is striking for someone who collects mostly Batman universe items. I'm looking to get on his in-studio commission list.

2. Darren Warren Johnson - His art is so damn energetic, my jaw drops every time I see a new commission from him.

3. Slow down on commissions and hopefully get a nice splash or perhaps a cover.

2019 goals will be a continuation of my 2018 goals with a few adjustments:
- Finish my DITF project
- Finish my last open jams
- Finish my frazetta homages project
- Shoot for a cover or splash from a book from my childhood
- Fill out my gap in definitive Batman artists and aim for something from Kelly Jones
- Attend my local shows and do 1 travel show (likely nycc again) [done]
- Trim my collection where needed
