Those Danes are so strong. I had one (a Boston Dane - black and white) who died a few years ago. So gentle but always seemed to enjoy it when other dogs attacked. lol
I had a Harlequin female and a Mantle male (his Grandfather was Flea Market, the Mantle in Mel Gibson's "The Patriot".. fun trivia ); they were younger than my toy poodles, so my poodles... 10 pound dogs, bossed around the 150 pound Danes. It was hilarious to watch.. they used to hang from their jowls to get their attention.

Very interesting. I have never heard of the Mantle designation. Cool that your dogs grandad was a star and that he was bossed around by the poodles! What great dogs. Once we were looking for our Yorkie pup and finally saw his little tail just inside Harli's mouth (he had his mouth open). The Yorkie was trying to grab the ball out of the back of his mouth. Crazy!

When our Dane saw another smaller dog (like a chihuahua or even a cat) approaching he would often lie down and face them. I think he was giving a friendly hello or something.

Nice..
... a Mantle Dane is a white Dane with the Black "hood" and "saddle".

Yeah.. they're gentle giants, provided your female isn't in heat/has had her litter; in that case, she'll kill/attempt to kill any dog she's not very familiar with if they get anywhere near her litter. Even if she's just in heat, she'll have a violent streak that's totally unlike her usual behavior.

Nice Yorkie story.. yeah, both of our Danes (Pinkerton and Chanel ) lovingly moved the poodles every so often. Freaked us out to some degree every time.

Yes, yes...I can see it.

Ratchet is right????

Good one Johnny!

Kinda like Nicolas Cage is a great actor with deep subtlety....or.... Laurence Olivier just could not handle Shakespeare. Got it!
