GSCF is proud to announce The 501st Legion will be attending our upcoming Garden State Comic Fest. The Legion is an all-volunteer organization formed for the express purpose of bringing together costume enthusiasts under a collective identity within which to operate. The Legion seeks to promote interest in Star Wars through the building and wearing of quality costumes, and to facilitate the use of these costumes for Star Wars-related events as well as contributions to the local community through costumed charity and volunteer work.

Ethan Van Sciver is coming to GSCF

GSCF is very proud to announce Ethan Van Sciver is coming to Garden State Comic Fest as our special guest of honor.

Ethan is best known for illustrating a number of titles including Green Lantern, Superman/Batman, New X-Men, and The Flash: Rebirth to name only a few. Ethan and writer Geoff Johns brought Hal Jordan back to the DC Universe as Earth's main Green Lantern officer in the six-issue miniseries Green Lantern Rebirth, before the duo re-launched the Green Lantern title itself with a new volume. Van Sciver's work on the Green Lantern mythos helped explain many elements of the Green Lantern story which some fans and writers found nonsensical, such as the reasons of the power rings uselessness against the color yellow, and Hal Jordan's transformation into the Parallax.

From Here Ethan, Johns, Dave Gibbons, and Ivan Reis went on to produce The Sinestro Corps War which introduced The Sinestro Corps. The series set the stage for a complete overhaul of the Lantern Corps, and introduced the emotional spectrum of power, which provides energy to seven different color variations of power rings . This in turn set the stage for DC’s Blackest Night.

Along with Johns, Ethan helped create the other Lantern Corps as well as prominent lanterns like Atrocitus, Saint Walker, and Larfleeze to name a few.

Ethan is now working on DC’s Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman with writer Gail Simone.

Ethan will be on hand all day and will be sketching at no charge. We only ask you to please limit it to one sketch per person so everyone might have a chance to meet Ethan.

Chris Batista is coming to GSCF

GSCF is very proud to announce Chris Batista is coming to Garden State Comic Fest.
Chris Batista was born and raised in New York City. It was hard to find him without a pencil in his hand. All he drew was superheroes and devoured comic books. This eventually led to his attendance at Laguardia HS, were he studied the arts for 4 years instead of getting better at math and science. He then attended the School of Visual Arts were he studied illustration and animation. It was there that he studied under the LEGENDARY Klaus Janson, which quickly lead to a job with Marvel Comics and later DC Comics. The majority of his work is from DC, were he worked on titles such as JLA, Legion of Superheroes, Hawkman, Aquaman and 52. His most recent work is for an upcoming issue of Justice Leauge 3000 and he is currently working on a creator owned property which he hopes to Kickstarter.

As we are a week away, again we would just like to say thank you to everyone who helped us make this possible. That includes our wonderful vendors, talented guests and artists, but most importantly our fans. We want this to be a great show and for everyone to have a wonderful and safe time. Our mission as we grow is to bring you the very best as we celebrate our favorite characters. From the legends such as Batman and the Joker to the newest being thought up and sketched as we write this.

Garden State Comic Fest is very sad to have just learned one of our friends and a guest at our upcoming show Tom Smith has recently suffered a stroke over this past weekend. We would like to wish Tom a full and speedy recovery and let him know our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. Tom is not only a legendary colorist but one of the nicest people in the industry today and this was truly sad news to receive. We hope to see you soon Tom, better than ever!!!!!
