Well my vote went to the $250-$500 range which was my answer to the question "At what price will you automatically buy a new comic cover". Plus I can't really afford anything much more than that so my cover purchases are obviously few and far between

Thankfully, at least one of my fave artists and good friend, Stuart Immonen gives me a much appreciated "family discount" on his artwork and I pick up occasional pieces like the recent Patsy Walker: Hellcat cover. Note: If interested, Stuart sells his work through Fanfare.

Tom at Fanfare sells Stuart's Ultimate X-Men, Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate FF and Hellcat covers for $600-$1000 (most of them being closer to the $750 mark) which I feel are reasonably priced in comparison to other cover pricing which I couldn't even consider.

You can see the Stuart's Fanfare pages here - http://www.fanfare-se.com/ArtistGall...p?ArtistId=291

Best,

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

While I read a fair number of new release books, I really have no interest in modern cover art -- at least in the superhero realm, which is where this discussion is occurring.

I have purchased one new release superhero comic cover. The book is than 2 years old, it was a bit over 1 year at the time of purchase, and the amount I paid fell within the 2-3k range, so that is where I voted.

The question is difficult to answer, as all OA polls are, due to the myriad of factors. If Neal Adams did an X-men cover for this months issue and the price was $1500, a lot of people would stretch their budgets to try and make that work, even if they are dead set against buying art that expensive. Of course, that would never happen.

The way I think is... I love this cover it's new, and Finch wants 6k for it. I love Finch but at 6k I would rather have a vintage cover if I was going to spend that kind of money.

As of right now Finch cover are priced above what I feel comfortable paying for new art. On a brand new Perez cover I think I would pay 5k if I had it, and I loved it.

But to answer the question. I think the answer would be what can you come up with within a month to buy a new cover. I think most of us are in the same boat. Regardless of what you make in salary. I think if you have to save over a month or more, we may change our minds.
