$3000 for that????? I just opened a can of worms.

I do love to stir up drama. I know there still supposed to be con sketches but at over $3,000 I would hope for a little more. I think one was $3150 and the other was $3500, I think.

Well, the auction WAS just for a con "sketch", so I wouldn't expect it to be anything more. That being said, I do think Adam tends to make sure these pieces are really nice. At least he didn't give her those anorexic legs he tends to give all his women.

it has become a joke!

You can get a brilliant cover for that price

But who's to blame: Adam or the bidders?

I read in the auction description that you could ask for a pin up or art nouveau style. For over $3,000 I would be somewhat disappointed. I would've gone with the art nouveau style. Looks like he won last year's auction too.

There are all sorts of arguments/opinions which have been put forward previously in relation to these guaranteed con pieces from Adam (and other artists are now offering similar pieces on ebay).

I personally feel that if the successful bidder is happy with the outcome then who am I to question it? Maybe I would have hoped for more but I didn't bid on the piece and win it. It was presumably worth it to the winner to gain a guaranteed sketch.

James (the buyer) is a great guy. He and his brother run the Mid Ohio con and are super nice guys.

If he has the money, and is happy with it, there ya go!

How could you EVER blame Adam for this? Why would you feel the need to ever blame Adam for this?

I don't think anyone is trying to find blame, just shocked by the price and piece. But if all parties are happy then the transaction was a success. I for one would have only paid the $250 and took my chance by standing in line.

I know it's a con sketch and all con sketches are not equal. The Maleficent he did is fantastic and that one is way better.
