Recommendations - The Flash TPB

Greetings all!

As a long time Marvel-head, My early beginnings only dabbled in DC - DKR, Wolfman’s Titans, etc. I’ve grown to love DC more over the years.

To that end, I would like to read a good Flash trade - something with Reverse-Flash would be appreciated! Detective work from Barry (or Wally?) would be great!

I read the Flash/Bat/RF arc. That was entertaining.

Like you, Vaultman, I lean towards Marvel but do enjoy DC on occasion & used to read more of it than I do now. That being said, I've always read The Flash. He's my favorite DC character no matter if Barry or Wally's in the suit.

Right now, we're 3 issues deep in a 4-part weekly crossover between Batman & The Flash called The Price of Vengeance that's running in both books. You have to know a few recent Batman side-characters, but the story is quite good & you should try & find it or wait for the trade.

As far as trades go here are a few I've enjoyed, all being written by Geoff Johns, who I think is the best "modern writer" of the Flash beginning w/ his Wally West stuff & finishing w/ his Barry Allen' take.

1) Flashpoint - If you haven't read it, you have to. It's fantastic & continues to be relevant in the modern DCU -

2) Flash Rebirth - Barry comes back after sacrificing himself in the original Crises. Lots of Reverse-Flash goodness. If you like the CW show, they borrowed a lot from these stories.

3) Blood Will Run - This is pretty much when Geoff made the jump from Green Lantern to Flash & it's a Wally West' Flash story. The trade incorporates 3 connected 3-4 ish storylines all adding up to a great "Cult" tale that I loved.

4) Geoff John's The Flash, Book One - the 1st 12 issues of John's run, this collection is excellent & Scott Koling's art on 1/2 the stories is wonderful. Just pure, fun modern Flash using a cadre of his great villains.

I would recommend The Return of Barry Allen. It was Mark Waid's first Flash epic and to me was such a fantastic story and still remains one of the top Flash stories ever done.
