There's an untapped market for print to order statues. Not saying PCS should do that, but as you said anything that cuts down design time can pass savings to us. I can't see why any company with SF rights doesn't try it in 1/8 scale.

Artistically the SFV model sculptors deserve their credit too.

It costs over $10k to print a typical 1:3 statue. Thats just the print. Not including paint, cleanup etc.

Ah hah! So there's the bottleneck. Printing has to get cheaper.

Theres a massive myth being spread around that 3d printing is some magic thing that is cheap, easy, and fast. Its none of those.

Yes, the crap prints you get from some Makerbot are cheap easy and fats, but collectors would never pay for those low resolution prints.

To get good prints you are looking at big money. To properly (important word) 3d print something like Slaine or Robocop is the cost of a brand new economy car.

Problem is, its not really getting any cheaper. Its been years since any noticeable improvement in cost has happened.

The Formlabs is the only cheap 3d printer that can do stuff acceptable to real product development. But the print size limitations are far too small for statues. Great for 1:6 figures though.

Would like to see Battle and Evil as soon as possible. I have a wait list pending and still on the fence.
