CM loves DARK CRYSTAL !!!!
Yesterday I wrote CM asking about DC and showing my Skeksis sculpture (thanks Cap for the idea!). They replied pretty fast (thanks CM!).
Well, nothing definitive but a promising answer anyway:
"Dear L,
Thank you for your interest in our Cinemaquettes. Very nice sculpture! We
would love to see Dark Crystal Cinemaquettes. Currently, Cinemaquette cannot
release information regarding new licenses. Please check back soon for
updates on new and upcoming Cinemaquettes! Thank you for your support.
Best Regards,
Customer Service
Toynami, Inc."

Wait.. the customer service is now Toonami??
Does that mean that the Cinemaquette division is getting reduced in size and they are starting to use corporate resources???

Lazslo, it's great that they had something nice to say about your sculpt. It's simply a fantastic piece. As far as the rest goes, it does pretty much sound like a stock answer they would give to any inquiry. I wouldn't get too excited over it. I don't know if I see them getting this license. To be quite honest you should just get the damn license yourself. I don't think anyone could do a better job with this property than you. Funny, when I was taking pics of the scratchbuild at Amok the other day I told Paul they were for you. He said "why bother, he could do a better job of it."

Thank you Ralph for the nice words. I know it sounds like a stock answer, but who knows. As for the license, I would love to produce the statues myself, but that means putting in tons of $$$$$ as the minimum edition size is around 500 pieces (heard that from factories in China). So we're in the $ 50'000.- range for a 1:4 Skeksis statue I guess. Not to mention the storage room or distributors needed.
So who is this Paul from AMOKTIME, he knows me but I don't know him
Funny to hear your story ... but I don't know if I could do a better job. It's always a question of time.

I agree with what Zurb has just said: you are the one to get this license. Your amazing work and your passion for Dark Crystal can only be beaten (perhaps) by those working at Jim Henson Company.
