The Barkster Bronze?

Anybody know any specifics about this one? Never heard of it until this seller started selling some about a month ago.
Randy???

I see it pop on from time to time. It's a neat piece!

I think RB is the one to ask when it comes to his lesser known pieces. There's typically an interesting story behind some of the jobs he took on back in the day!

I agree and hope Randy can shed some light on this one! Thanks RS.

This was a project that I did back in 1995. Carl Barks was one of the original "9 Old Men" from Disney's classic animation era. Carl had the distinction of creating "Scrooge Mc Duck", and was a popular Disney comics writer and artist for decades.

His paintings sell for $250,000. and up.

I was supposed to receive a royalty on these, but to this day, I've never seen an accounting of sales, even though I've requested it many times.

On the upside, I did meet and get to know Carl Barks before he passed away.

Though he did get his start in the Disney animation department, he isn't considered one of the Nine Old Men. You can see who they were here:

Too bad you got screwed on this project, but to me it would be worth it to have met Barks :jam:

I stand corrected. This is what I had been told at the time.

Meeting Barks was very cool. He was an amazing artist and knew how to tell a good dirty joke.

Thanks Randy!

I picked up one from the seller yesterday on the bay and appreciate the extra information! He has sold 5 already and has another on the bay right now. He/she said they will have a few more going up as well. At 100 and being a bronze, I had to jump on one of these rare beauties before they were gone. They seem to have an over abundance of Carl Barks items for sale as well. I wonder where they got them from?

His first paying gigs were doing gags for Judge and the Calgary Eye-Opener, both mens magazines of the times

Excuse me for the resurrection, but I happened to borrow from a friend one of the VHS tapes that were given with the statue (100 total in existence), digitize it, and upload it on YouTube. 3 minutes of Carl Barks talking about the Barkster figurine.

I noticed that in this thread was Randy Bowen himself, so I decided to register just to post the link. I don't know if anyone is interested in the video after all those years, but I thought "why not" ?

So here you go,
