Have you become desensitized to prices?

Remember when a $200 commission seemed like a lot of money? And how $200 is still meaningful dollars in the real world?

Nowadays with all of the price hikes, I find myself looking at things and thinking...hmm...$750 for that seems like a great deal.

Am I the only one that has become unfortunately desensitized to pricing?

Yeah, I remember when I started (only two years ago) that I wanted to stick with commissions as original pages and covers were too expensive. Now I've bought commissions which are way more than pages and I'm starting to price out covers which are way too much

I think we're all feeling the pinch, which has compelled many of us to be super selective with our purchases. Also worth noting is that I think a number of us are now playing the waiting game. For example, it seems to have become more likely to find originally overpriced modern artwork (i.e., Alex Ross, Jim Lee, etc...) at a bargain when owners decide to resell. If this happens enough times or becomes more widely known, hopefully, we'll see agents come back to reality as less people will be willing to bite these overpriced high bullets.

Mr. Machismo certainly has.

I definitely have. I still search out deals but I'm way more comfortable then I used to be spending over 1k on a commission or thousands on a published piece.

I've tried to manage myself to not go up as quickly as the market has. I have been chasing Brooks for many many years and now that he is at $1000, I just can't justify that to myself to spend it on a commission when I could get a good piece of Sal artwork.

I definitely got way too desensitized. It's not a good thing either. Akin to a fighter feeling no nerves in a fight, then getting KO'ed cause he wasn't into the match.
