Big Chief Studios Amy Pond Signature Edition 1/6 figure

OK, so I'm taking a chance by posting this here. Admins please move it if you feel the need, but I don't think it belongs in SS and don't think it deserves to be put in Action figures and toys.

This is the second figure put out by Big Chief Studios Ltd., a new British company. They previously put out the 11th Doctor and will be putting out a strictly limited 10th Doctor that reminded me of the good ol' days of Sideshow when PO's when live and the servers crashed!! Only 250 Signature editions have been made of each edition so fare with a limited number of regular figures too. Their customer service is better than any company out there!

They will also be producing a 4th Doctor (Tom Baker) figure as well as a 1st Doctor (William Hartnell) in time for the Anniversary and Sherlock figures of Cumberbatch and Freeman. Headsculpts already done by Trevor Groves on the Sherlock Figures!

Onto the figure. It's been quite a ride! We are getting another head because the fans have been unhappy with the rooted hair head. It will be free to all who can show Proof of purchase and available around end of August. I do prefer it TBH. This is my first rooted hair figure - not including my chucky and two living dead dolls

Cannot wait for the Tennant figure! Looks to be the best so far, but that will come probably end of year

OK, so not much interest LOL.

I took some tips from a guy on SSF and poured some boiling water over the figures head to "reset" the hair. Will try to add some gel later. Here are some pics I posted on facebook of the procedure and final outcome.

I have to be honest, the likeness is way off. It looks a little creepy too.

It's pretty much an atrocity, especially considering the price range. I know they had all sorts of issues that led to this result (including this being the head sculpt that Gillan and her reps chose, after forcing numerous alterations to an apparently far more accurate sculpt), but alas that doesn't make the final product any more bearable from a customer point of view. I'm certainly glad I didn't buy one, but then I never liked the way this was looking pretty much since day one.

I do give Big Chief serious props for recognising the issues, not pretending like they didn't exist and it's a perfect piece, and even offering those that did buy it a free alternate head sculpt with sculpted hair for nothing other than the price of shipping. I have also heard cases of them transferring or refunding deposits from people who cancelled this piece, despite the deposit being listed as being non refundable. So Big Chief has certainly done what they can where they can, which gives me a bit more faith in them as a company, and for their future efforts.

On the up side, I thought the Matt Smith piece was very good, particularly for a first release, and the Tennant shows quite a lot of potential too, as does the Tom Baker figure. And I can't wait to see how their announced William Hartnell First Doctor turns out as well. So hopefully this was just an aberration, and future releases will get back on track and be much better overall.

Guess I'll find out, as I already have the Tennant on order, and will no doubt order the Tom Baker and (unless something goes seriously wrong) Hartnell Doctors as well.

I'm not holding my breath, but it would be very cool if it all works out and one day I can have each incarnation of The Doctor standing on my shelf.

It's nothing like the Matt Smith or David Tennant Head sculpts. They are outstanding.

Hopefully the sculpted hair head will make a great difference and can't wait to receive that, but it is a long wait....

Jacket does nothing for the figure at all IMO, even with the sculpted hair headut I can definitely see Karen/Amy in that head

The jacket has one use, it covers those exposed wrist joints.

type of hair - whether sculpted or rooted - really does make a difference when you take into account that both faces are the same. OK, so I'm a crap photographer! And the close ups of the sculpted has been touched up too

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

So those are your photos? You stripped her, had her on her knees, with her skirt undone and her arms behind her back? haha!
