The long-haired alt is the only Evil Ryu I like. Neither of the SFIV Evil Ryu's are happening according to Jerry, so the only other Ex I'd buy would be black and yellow. Some of the others are cool palettes, but kind of corny in the real world, plus no additional incentive/homage to make me buy it.

The black and yellow does look good, I'd be happy with that color combo. You guys thinking that with the glove adjustment pose or the gi grab?

Did Jerry ever confirm the style / time period for this Ryu?
Or is that something we can influence.....Jerry?

I guess in many ways it probably wouldn't affect the EX since Shin Akuma was done in USF4 style.


If it is a colour variant, black and yellow would be great.
I like the detail in the belt in SF4 - the Kanji's.




Oh, and don't kill me but baby blue Hyper Fighting Ryu gives me goosebumps!




But history tells me a colour variant would be a smaller ES and would be the grail and everyone would prefer it "because the colour really pops" (sorry, last time I'll do that joke).

Regarding pose...

I like the "glove adjust" pose a lot.

It's weird because a lot of the poses such as the "glove adjust" pose, the "rise up" pose, the "crossed arms" pose and even the SF4 "Gi grabbing" pose don't seem like statue poses.
I guess because the hands and arms obscure part of the body (and face with the "rise up" pose).

Which in many ways makes me kind of interested in the SFV "clenched fist" pose. I also like his face/attitude. And I'm excited for SFV and the character styles/designs.

But they are all hype. We actually, surprisingly, have a short list.
I wasn't expecting that.

Having said all that I think my preferences are these two:





I say Jerry picks 3-5 poses and puts them in an official poll....

Or he just says fxck it and picks the one he thinks he has the most enthusiasm for...after all, that will likely lead to the most impressive statue.

If including it isn't cost effective perhaps an additional regular portrait could be sold as an accessory piece through the PCS website (kind of like Dog/Lobo)!

I really feel this could be a great solution! And a nice way for PCS to enter the accessory market.

THIS is a great idea.

The Reg Ryu portrait would have the yellow headband.
The Evil Ryu portrait would have the red headband and eyes.

But you'd need a removable Gi (velcro, like the 1:3 Akuma), and a second Gi with the Messatsu sign on his back.

Could work. That would be quite an epic EX!

The few poses that have been suggested are good. There isn't one I really dislike. While I like the "hand on belt" pose, I concede that it is a pain in the ass to have polystone "grasping" the mixed-media, so either the glove or fist pose would be great.

I am more than OK with only one version of Ryu for this. I only need one 1:3 in my collection.

Yeah the yellow gloves from SF4 are amazing.




On a serious note that's sort of why the era matters.
Your idea of a switch out OG Evil Ryu head with Reg Ryu head would only really work with a game color scheme that had the same gloves as Evil Ryu (dark brown....mostly).

SSF2T (all gloves are the same colour - dark brown?)

I can't find a colour chart for SFA Ryu

SF3 Third Strike (Ryu with the yellow head band's gloves are dark brown...I think....)



But having a black and yellow Ryu colour scheme from previous titles is not as good with yellow gloves in SF4.

Sucks because I thought that was a pretty cool idea about the switch out OG Evil Ryu head.

I think you'd have to choose one or the other as an EX - OG Evil Ryu or Black/Yellow SF4 Colour Variant Ryu.


On a personal note I'm with you in regards to Evil Ryu. Much prefer the new one.
