Joker just crossed the 1 billion mark and became the first R rated movie to do so.
Not bad...

I hear a lot of people wanting a sequel to this movie. I kind of think DC should stop with this one and focus on one-shot movies that are about interesting characters.

If it weren't because my son really wanted to see this movie I would have walked out before it was over. I didn't enjoy it at all. My son liked it which surprised me.

I think I understand why some fellas don’t like this one. I do think this is a step in the right direction for DC though. I’ve always thought that if they did alternate reality movies about some of the core characters and put the focus on story, they would have a great formula on their hands that wasn’t a copy of Marvel’s formula and would make money as well. I’m all for comic inspired movies to keep going forward in the future but I don’t think it will happen if all we see is the same thing over and over.

I'm not so sure DC's other characters really lend themselves to a more serious drama based movie setting.

Most won’t but they don’t really need to. Gotham by Gaslight Batman would be an awesome period piece, Deathstroke could be an awesome action/militaristic movie, Booster Gold or Justice League International could be a great comedic movie. There’s different avenues to go down.

Looks like money talks, there will be a sequel Joker movie with Joaquin Phoenix. Originaly it was just supposed to be a one and done but since the movie went past the 1 billion mark everyone changed their mind.
Todd Phillips is also looking at doing some more DC Characters origin movies. A Lex Luthor one might be cool...

One of the most profitable films of all time? Yeah, a sequel of some kind seemed inevitable.
I could see a Batman's rogue gallery series working if they keep the budget down ($40-70 million range). Maybe a Mister Freeze or Riddler or Poison Ivy?
