I don't see the issue. Ron Howard is a great director.

It's not that he is necessarily a bad director, or any such thing. I am just unsure and a bit scared how his style and vision will shape this particular movie.

He directed Willow, which is a pretty good family flick, at the time anyway. I think he'll do a great job with the script he'll be given.

He's been part of the extended Lucas family for decades. He acted in American Graffiti, which was directed by Lucas. Lucas considered him to direct The Phantom Menace, and Kennedy considered him to direct The Force Awakens.

Ron Howard is a good director. I don't think there is much argument there but he has never been involved in a full on science fiction film. He hasn't proven himself in the genre yet and that leads to a fair amount of trepidation in my mind.
