Ok..saw the movie last night, went to the UK premier, and it's ok...just ok. I'll try and not put in any spoilers.

The story is a little thin, the domestic scenes with the four are truly flat, flat, flat- almost embarrassing. Why this was never picked up whilst shooting is beyond me.

Reed - is better than 1st movie -but dreadful scene in nightclub at start.
Sue, the very miscast Jessica Alba, comes accross as a whining whingebag. The blonde wig and blue contacts make her look more alien than the surfer.
Ben, ok and
Johnny- spot on.
Silver Surfer is fantastic.
Dr. Doom.. oh dear.. pure pantomime/ Doctor Ev-il!
The Galactus effect is ok, but you don't get a clear shot, which everyone wanted. There is a shot of the cloud approaching the earth which is awesome.
Frankie Raye - waste of time.
Alicia - brilliant!!!!

This could have been a fantastic movie, it needed a brilliant action opening scene with the FF. It's about 20 mins in before they do any proper stuff. The script is only awful in the family scenes.. and there's a lot of it at the start.

It ends up being no better or worse than the first.

as a big fan of Silver Surfer, i have to say this movie stinks! but the regular movie-goer or non-FF/silver surfer reader may not care much.

trying not to give it all away, it was actually going alright for me until the part where they figured out where Surfer gets his power from then as a comic reader, the movie goes downhill from here. dr doom, frankie raye, silver surfer and sue richards, doom 'stealing' the surfer's 'power', galactus' appearance and the way the threat to the planet was averted. i left the cinema shaking my head. the ending was like a saturday morning cartoon.

one thing they did good though was keeping true to the Surfer's origins. seeing him on screen was a blast and the voice acting was done well. the part where Johnny uses all the FFs powers was also good, though they should have used that for the Super Skrull in another movie or something. Alicia is great, if only she played the same part as she had in the comics. but nooo it has to be Sue because Jessica Alba is a big star despite my grievances, the pacing of the plot was good and the action scenes kept me from being bored. i really almost walked out the cinema when they 'stopped' the surfer though. i really don't see why they had to change that aspect of the surfer's power. it was very drastic and completely not in line with the comic book. much worse than Spidey's webshooters IMHO.

I didn't mind the changes to Spideys webshooter at all.

No surprise at all. A poor chef once, will simply make another poor meal again.

We deserve better. The characters deserve better.
And yes, the audience, even if just the non comic fan summer crowd deserves a proper representation of the characters.

I pray to whatever comic gods there are to make this film bomb and end the madness.

Maybe in another ten years someone will do the characters justice.

sigh.

What a waste.

The use of amazing FX seems to be the way to make up for poor story telling.
