Best Painting for Resin/Stone Composite?

Greetings,
I'm new here, under somewhat false pretenses; I'm not (although I wish I were) a collector or maker of comics-inspired statuary. But I do have a modest collection of resin (usually mixed with stone dust like marble) classical sculpture reproductions, and that brings me here for your wisdom and advice.
I recently acquired a small (7 in.) repro of Rodin's :Le Damaide, but unfortunately the statue has been stained with an ivory antiquing stain, and on top of that there is some mottling on the figure that I'd like to eliminate. My solution (and I'd appreciate hearing any alternatives) is to strip the stain, fill a couple of very small pits with filler, then lightly spray paint the entire statue using an airbrush with a white lacquer or enamel to make it look like the original marble that Rodin used. But which is best to, first, brighten it up, and second, which paint will provide a marble-like shininess? Which ages the best, is the most durable?
Thanks for taking the time to read this; i look forward to hearing your advice.

most people use acrylic paint in this hobby but its not very durable..
i'd try enamel paint, get a gloss or semi-gloss white, its very durable and you end up with a very smooth, almost candy shell like finish.
but thats just my opinion, im more of a sculptor than a painter..

Ya enamels are tougher but the fumes for me are to much, i stick to acrylics since they don't have the fumes enamels do. Plus easier to clean out of a airbrush.

But you can use enamels are a base and acrylics long as you know what will stick to what and what doesn't react to the other. requires lots of testing.
