Best Painting for Resin/Stone Composite?
Greetings,
I'm new here, under somewhat false pretenses; I'm not (although I wish I were) a collector or maker of comics-inspired statuary. But I do have a modest collection of resin (usually mixed with stone dust like marble) classical sculpture reproductions, and that brings me here for your wisdom and advice.
I recently acquired a small (7 in.) repro of Rodin's :Le Damaide, but unfortunately the statue has been stained with an ivory antiquing stain, and on top of that there is some mottling on the figure that I'd like to eliminate. My solution (and I'd appreciate hearing any alternatives) is to strip the stain, fill a couple of very small pits with filler, then lightly spray paint the entire statue using an airbrush with a white lacquer or enamel to make it look like the original marble that Rodin used. But which is best to, first, brighten it up, and second, which paint will provide a marble-like shininess? Which ages the best, is the most durable?
Thanks for taking the time to read this; i look forward to hearing your advice.
