Yeah, it's definitely a lottery because they are way too much item categories (toys, art, dolls etc), and sometimes they pick one, the other time another one which have a different VAT/customs rate.
And apparently, they absolutely don't care about the code Sideshow provides them a while ago that should enable us to pay a reduced VAT rate (5,5% for art items) and no custom fees at all.
In my case, dealing with Fedex for at least 10 orders, on approximately 20 orders, it was pretty consistent while not very logical, for 18 orders I paid 20% of VAT and no custom fees. But for Dark Phoenix 5,5% of VAT and still no custom fees (it was just after the Sideshow changing code), and for Zatanna it was 20% of VAT AND 7% of custom fees (first and only time ever).
After I received the 20% for Kylo Ren just after Phoenix I called Fedex and they told me Phoenix was a mistake and I was lucky they don't ask me the missing amount of money... And for Zatanna, they told me it was statutory to pay the custom fees at each of my statue orders... so I didn't insist because they never make mistakes

so what a surprise when I received my Batwoman and Magneto without any custom fees and just 20% VAT.
