I know I'm not the only surfer on here, and it's already on my FB page... but.. yeah.. this is insane.

Biggest surfed wave on record... people surf 60-70 footers every so often and it's a big deal. This sucker's weighing in at about 100 feet.

I did 20-foot storm swells in my twenties, but these days... anything over ten feet makes me crap my pants. Got out of surfing monsters when I promised my (ex)wife and her Mom that I'd quit them ten years ago... hard to summon that nerve again.

I'll add that the video could've been better, but they're no doubt making a documentary using that (and other) footage (probably focusing on Garrett), so they're only releasing edited footage.

Interesting. Definitely need better video to grasp the wave size.

Well.. just from that still shot, you can see how tiny Garrett is on that sucker; look at him in the background compared to the people watching in the foreground.

Yeah the still gives nice perspective. The video didn't for me.
