Teen Titans- Glass and Chang

So is anyone reading the current run of Teen Titans out there?

I've been pretty unhappy about most of the recent Titans related books since Flashpoint/The New 52 etc... but this one has been a really big breath of fresh air surprisingly enough.

Cast for those who may need a refresher

1) Robin- Damian Wayne
2) Red Arrow- Emiko Queen (Ollie's half sister and daughter of Shado)
3) Kid Flash - Wallace West/The Ginger Wally West's cousin

New to the Book/DC Universe

4) Roundhouse- Billy Wu a human wrecking ball, friend of Wallace
5) Crush- Daughter of Lobo
6) Djinn- a genie, probably obvious based on her name possibly tied to the 5th dimension

For those who don't know we're 2-3 issues into this team.

Teen Titans Special #1 launched it (half the team was introduced and the newbies were cameos)
And the new team was revealed fully in action in

Teen Titans #20

We're so far up to Teen Titans #21

I read the special and thought it was okay. I'm not too interested in a team of kids fighting crime on their own, though. I'd rather see the kids on teams with adult mentors (plus it's already difficult keeping up with all the titles/characters that interest me, lol).

I actually like the concept because it's not just fighting crime as usual.

Though it's not exactly clear what his plans are for it.

Robin's built

Spoiler
a prison he's throwing the villains they face off again in. Seemingly permanently. Possibly leaving them to starve to death though that's not clear.

While I know it won't stick or last it's a fun take on proactive heroism.

Sounds like what they already do on the Flash TV show.

Ehhh they're similar. But on Flash it's always portrayed (albeit poorly) as a temporary holding spot.

Not to much here.

I tend to enjoy pretty much every incarnation of the Teen Titans. I don't know why I'm not reading this series yet. Tons of work to do and tons of entertainment of all sorts to keep up with.

That said...

Yeah, this is a part of the problem. Single issues and then special issues where you need a Rosetta Stone to figure out where in the chronology it fits.

Oy. Yeah, I might try to read the digital versions or I might just wait on the TPBs.

Yep Crush is fun and has a lot of mysteries about her so far.

The obvious being the Rojas' who I assumed were her human foster/adoptive family but I guess there might be a secret past that and they weren't?

As for her mom...now there's an interesting mystery. I figured whoever it would be wouldn't be too important but that might not be true looking at that backup. Course that similarly raises the question of why her MOM similarly gave her up (or what story there was behind it).

In fairness that's not so new to comics anyway.

I'm eternally thrown off by the fact comic annuals rarely come out every year and sometimes can be stand alone or tie in to the story and more often than not give no idea where the story takes place in the main books reading order if you aren't following it at the time.
