you got that right sister. It is a good story but good lord every freaking chapter has to go on and on about what everyone is wearing and what they are eating and there are about a dozen characters to many that get a long background.
Could have been a great story if about 3-4 of these thick books, IMO.

Ok I checked and it's true. I already have about 5,000 pages invested in this thing but I read the online reviews of Dances with Dragons and they are not good at all. This series just gets more tedious as it goes on but how can I stop now?
I wish there were Cliff's notes for it

Verse, by John Updike 
Combines two collections of Updike's poetry. I'm so-so on his novels, but he sure could write some entertaining and insightful poems.
Wolf Hall, by Hilary Mantel 
This is a popular book that won lots of acclaim, but I couldn't finish it. It's a horrible retelling of the rise of Thomas Cromwell in the court of Henry VIII. Poorly written, no historical perspective, and the author overuses the pronoun "he", to the point that it's almost impossible to tell who's being spoken of. The main character is so poorly defined that he comes across as a supporting character in his own story. I can't believe that this is going to be a trilogy.

I'm finally getting around to reading King's "Cell". Fun read, but a little out there. I'm maybe a third done, and so far, not a lot of surprises, even if it is well-told.

The Terror was enjoyable, AoD... historical non-fiction until the journals stopped, regarding an 1800s Arctic expedition.. then the fiction begins.
Not for everyone, but I enjoyed it.
The Day-by-Day Armageddon/World War Z books are good stuff...
... honestly? I haven't read much horror lately. On a non-fiction History bender these past couple of years.
