It depends, I will bulk stuff out with aluminum foil, air dry clay or eps depending on what it is and the size, then I coat with Apoxie-Sculpts sheets and smooth out with water...then I start adding detail.

I do this to save material and also make cutting apart easier. Cutting through a thin layer of AS is easier than a solid piece.

I've also tried free-form. I have to say it's not meant for sculpting. I guess you get what you pay for as far as epoxies go.

I'm sure free-form has it's place...but any material that doesn't accept itself in layers is limited on my bench. FF does stick to itself, but not well.

That's one reason I shy away from Sculpey...it's limiting in it's ability to be layered.
