Sideshow's overhead while certainly a factor is not something I care about as a collector. Sideshow needing a bigger profit per unit is the same. Sideshow's Maul will no doubt have a bigger edition size so they can spread out some of that cost right there.

Again I agree with you that there are more factors other than just scale but I still don't see Maul worth an extra $130-150 (even more when you factor in shipping, since Hordak will ship for free if you buy from Tweeterhead).
Honestly the extra $130-150 is because it's Star Wars, it's Darth Maul and Sideshow know it will sell.

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

I preordered. This is going to be my first mythos statue. Do they usually hold up well with the prototype upon release? Mind you, the only statue I own is a kratos on throne from gaming heads and while I love its presence I'm well aware it's not as detailed as the proto.

The price point really irks me, BUT if they can keep it on the same realm as the proto I'll accept it.

I would have bought this statue had Sideshow not included that bust of Palpatine.

It’s funny, the early days of the hobby you couldn’t even get your money back. I guess that is still the case on some pieces.

The original Darth Maul Mythos cost $250, I believe. Insane that a 1/5th scale statue now costs $610. I don’t know how folks can afford this hobby.

1/5 scale should be priced in the 500 range at best 510, 520 something like that. Makes no sense charging PF prices.
