You're not alone. I'm finding the transition to cloth to be quite a challenge. If I'm not concerned about the durability of the clothing, I'm concerned about the sudden toyish or dollish appeal of this style of statue. Some of these statues are even posable (which actually sells the idea even less to me). However, I am talking as a collector who has yet to purchase a statue that's been dressed up. I may very well change my mind once I'm floored with a piece in person.

I always wonder what the lasting effects of dust have on the clothing. When you dust them are you actually getting all of the dust out of the material?

I think that's a DC Direct Alex Ross JLA action figure.

Let's say one of these statues uses a lot of white (like the Sideshow Bride of Frankenstein PF), I'd worry that the slightest stain might be there to stay. I think some of the clothing folds and curls would bug me after a while too. However, I have read that people have lightly ironed their pieces with success.
All this to say that we're seeing more pieces with clothing than less. I wonder what the difference is in cost to the producer.
