I think it is a bit overpriced. Maybe the Kucharek bros are very expensive? I look at the upcoming batgirl PF release that has a lot (if not all) of the same sculpted elements and a switchout head and she is $100 less

I see nothing in this statue that deserves the "maquette" label.
Maybe the beginnings of a new trend. The PFs of yesterday become the maquettes of today. As for the PFs... look at how the bases of Harley and the royal guards are extremely simple.
I guess with one more can/barrel on his base, Robin could have become a maquette.
Two years ago, for the same price you had Lady Deadpool with a more elaborate base, two heads and three feet. Unbelievable, I know, but it's Lady Deadpool.
And you can have her cheaper nowadays.

With PFs becoming the new Maquette, SS is going to have to come up with a new line to command an even higher price tag.

Premium Maquette?

This costs less than the Thor Breaker of Brimstone PF EX. If maquette is super fancy, why is it cheaper than a PF? SS logic.

Maybe Maquette is just a term for raising our price expectations now. When it is lower than what we expect we are more willing to preorder. See Gambit Maquette as well :P

$675 translates to just under $800 by the time I factor in tax and shipping to the east coast.

I've always loved this character, don't currently have any Dr. Strange statues (always lusted after the Bowen), and really liked the looks of this. I was also mulling over some fun mods to take it to another level.

At $800, however, I'm out. When these things had some expectation of holding their value it was easier to rationalize a purchase. With so much coming out, so often, that's just no longer the case. For everything you pass on, in six months two other things will be announced that you'll find just as compelling.

Guess I'll just have to look into fabricating a portal diorama using the HT figure to scratch my Strange itch.

I recommend not telling the ladies about your Strange itch.

That fabric cape just doesn't look good here. Perhaps if they chose higher quality looking material? The parts around his head looks like from an elementary school project. Good detail on the face sculpt though.

Pre-order is live. I’ll wait until they announce an ES.
