Arrow She-Hulk (Fantastic Four) – Sculpted by Sam Greenwell for DST

She-Hulk (Fantastic Four) – Sculpted by Sam Greenwell for DST

<a href="http://photobucket.com"><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e130/rjbreslin/Shehulk1.jpg" border="0" alt="Image hosting by Photobucket"></a>

Brief History: Better know as She-Hulk, Jennifer Walters is a first cousin of Bruce Banner (Hulk). Both very close but overtime they had seen less of each other until Bruce decided to seek her out. While driving Bruce to her home in LA she was shot and seriously injured by one of her clients enemies, Trask. Bruce knowing that his cousin was loosing blood fast carried out a transfusion using his own blood. While in hospital in the recovery ward Trask tried to complete his assignment to kill her, but was recognised by Jennifer. This triggered her transformation into the She-Hulk.

Sculpt: This is a nicely executed sculpt of She-Hulk in her Fantastic Four outfit and a nice addition to the Premier Line from DST which includes Emma Frost and Black Cat (both previously sculpted by Clay Moore). Its an extremely big statue measuring approximately 15” in height and appears to be much bigger than the previous two outings. The anatomy is excellent and not overly exaggerated like Emma Frost. The feet and boots are a small disappointment, as the arched foot does not look realistic. That said you would not notice this if you pose it face on. The hair is nicely sculpted and IMO better than the ones sculpted on the Bowen Mini busts which is ‘Too Big’. The base is a generic rectangular slab with some gold trimming which is a major disappointment. It would have been better to have a flat black base on this one.

<a href="http://photobucket.com"><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e130/rjbreslin/shehulk5.jpg" border="0" alt="Image hosting by Photobucket"></a>

Paint Application: The paint on this is for the most part good. It is let down a little however by the blue tinting of the boots and gloves which are not necessary. The green skin is lighter than the Bowen Hulk but still looks good. The face, eyes and lips are nicely detailed. Finally the outfit perfectly matches the Bowen FF if it is desired to pose them together.

<a href="http://photobucket.com"><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e130/rjbreslin/shehulk3.jpg" border="0" alt="Image hosting by Photobucket"></a>

Critique: The main problem with this sculpt is the base. It looks cheap and distracts from the sculpt which is an excellently sculpted piece. The Paintwork on the gloves and boots is also a poor selection where a simple white without the shading would have sufficed.

<a href="http://photobucket.com"><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e130/rjbreslin/shehulk4.jpg" border="0" alt="Image hosting by Photobucket"></a>

Conclusion: This will make a fine addition to anyone’s collection and I for one am glad I picked this up. I may however have the base repainted black as its just so bad. Other than that I’d give this one 6.5 out of 10. With a better base this would have scored better.

Thanks for the great, subjective review bullseye. I can't wait to get this one, and I really dont' have much prloblem with the base myself.

Bulls, is the statue a single piece, or are one or both feet pegged into the base?

Single piece...I seem to remember reading a number were coming in broken at the ankles. Mine was so difficult to remove, I had to cut away at the foam insert inorder to get her free.

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

Excellent review, Bullseye! It looks like a great statue. I haven't seen it person yet, but I've been on the fence about getting this one. (There's one at my LCs, but it's boxed.) How does the face look? My only hesitation with the statue was that the face looked a little bland in the promo shots (it could just have been those shots). Do you think it looks good in the final product?
