I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

Well, to be fair, I could've done that. Had I pre-ordered when this was solicited, I'd have got it for $132 max. My problem here was my belief that I wasn't going to get these DC Dynamics statues and chose not to pre-order. They solicited these so early that by the time they started rolling out and I saw I was onboard, it was too late to pre-order... well, maybe not. I should've tried adding it to an order later.

And there's no shot I'll get soaked by a retailer who doesn't discount. I won't pay MSRP for a new DCD statue. If everyone were to try to sell at MSRP, I'd never buy one. That goes for Sideshow and Bowen, too - I just won't expect as much of a discount on their products.

I hear you about not pre ordering these due to uncertainty. I don't mind paying MSRP on BD an SS stuff when in this position (having no p.o.) as they do not inflate the MSRP as much. DCD's pricing system is ludicrous and now has me at the mercy of the LCS' and e-tailers.....

I just checked with my online retailer and they were still expecting a couple more of the GL statue to come in in 2-3 weeks, so they put me down for one at their "normal" pre-order price (their usual 32% off). I asked them to add the Superman, too, than I'm done with this line (I can't see any scenario where I'll be able to stomach that Supergirl).

There are some discounted on Ebay, just not as much as they used to be. The normal ebay retailers I used to order from when I didn't pre-order are either slower to put them up or aren't ordering extras for Ebay any longer.... or DCD is still allocating their shipments of these and they are taking longer to get out there. Given how behind DCD has been lately, that might be the real problem. I never did see that Red Hood maquette sell at a discount. I ended up using some Amazon gift certificates on it to trick myself into thinking I didn't pay MSRP for it.

Dude, bottom line is it shouldn't be a pain in the a$$ to buy stuff.

And that periodic ebay analysis that our fellow blogger is nice enough to run doesn't take into account the pricing of the stuff that doesn't sell nor a quantitative comparison of availability to items sold.
