Iron Studios Dilophosaurus 1/10 Art Scale

Today I receipt my highly expected and awaited Dilophosaurus on 1/10 scale. Perfect to compliment the raptors, T-Rex and characters figures.

I like the figure but to be honest I am a little disappointed... mainly because of two reasons. First, the position. The head, and the body should be more up; now the head (supposedly in attack position) points downwards, which subtracts its aggressiveness and countenance. In addition, by looking at it, it eliminates the gut vision, which gives the figure much better vision. On the “selling pictures” this didn’t happened, unfortunately in production piece, it does.
The second point is the painting. The general painting of the Dilophosaurus is great but the green/white paintings are a completely fail. Looks like they have used stickers or tattoos for kids. This spoils the general view of the painting of the dinosaur. One last thing. In the crown of the head without using flash the painting is beautiful but with flash it looks low precision. For sure this didn’t happened into the “selling pics” from IS’s web.

Overall impresión is that I like it but the issues with the position and painting avoids this Dilophosaurus of being a very nice piece to compliment the raptors and the rexy... a pity!

For sure, only my opinion.

Here some pics.
Thanks for reading!!

This needed a diorama to go with it, including the jeep and Nedry.

It’s in the exact pose in the film when it first attacks Nedry, leaving me to think there probably was a diorama planned but they had licensing issues with the Jeep. It would have been a killer diorama too, really wish they’d have pushed for the Jeep license to complete my JP vehicle collection. It probably would have meant they could have had a t-Rex chase diorama with the smashed up Jeep too.

I must admit, I was really looking forward to this statue but when I saw the production piece I changed my mind. It’s just not good enough, especially with the shipping and customs to the U.K.

It’s a shame about the Chronicle Collectibles piece, as it looked fantastic. The Prime 1 version just doesn’t do anything for me though. Think I’ll just have to put my Dilo statue dreams back on the shelf.

I still secretly think that there will be a diorama. I have already written to Iron Studios several times about this, maybe when more people insist something will start working

They know the demand is there, I’ve written also and I’ve seen many, many comments asking the same thing. But the answer is always the same, it requires a separate license. Wether it’s a license they cannot acquire or it’s too expensive (a lot of people like myself would be happy paying the additional percentage I’m sure).

What I don’t understand with their answer, is the Jeep gets made ALL THE TIME with toys, promotional things, movies (it was in Jurassic World). So I would have assumed it would be straightforward. Whereas there was a huge stink between universal and Ford about the explorers. Which is why the explorers (the Ford version) aren’t even in Jurassic World Evolution. And did you noticed the crushed explorer in the 1/10 T. rex attack diorama doesn’t have the Ford logo either. But yet the Jeep seems to be the hardest to produce...

It honestly just looks like a T-pose to me (or what passes for a T-pose on a dinosaur). Feet and hands are perfectly aligned like an orthographic drawing.

I'm sure the Ford logo is on the other Explorer? Why can they do one car but not the other?

It looks like the Crash McCreery concept, but with a frill.

For me this little higher elevation on the head sets a big difference between concept and production piece. I wish it would be like in the picture.

Hope someone gets one and post some pics and opinions.

More thank likely because it’s “damaged.” I remember with the PS1 Gran Turismo game there were car manufacturers that stipulated that the cars couldn’t be damaged if they were to feature in the game (Porsche was one if my memory serves). It’s possible Ford have done the same here.

The prototypes have the Ford badge. So something changed between prototypes and approval.
