i think the Ripclaw character was designed based on the wolverine blueprints with the blades and claws identifying them as similar.

both are also depicted as savage animal like beings.

I tend to like the claws design instead of blades.

I agree, I think all of Wildstorm, TopCow and the other Image companies based their characters on existing Marvel characters.

Of course, these days it is very difficult to create an original character.
