How to best clean statues that are dusty?

I'm relatively new. I've been collecting statues since early July and am beginning to see a slight coat of dust on some of my earlier purchases. They are in Detolf like cases, but the dust still occurs.

What is the best way to clean them? Swiffer duster? Feather duster? I heard some people run them under water. Then what about drying without spots? I assume wiping with a damp cloth is a no no due to paint being removed. What do you do?

Thanks for your replies in advance.

I stole one of my wifes large makeup brushes (new before she used it). Works well and gets into the nooks and cranies of the statues.

I used swiffer duster as well, just have to be careful with it so it doesnt grab a finger or outfit point and pull the statue with it.

Soft bristle paint brush for those hard to reach places work too.

Make up brushes and a straw to blow the dust out of the hard to reach spots.

At the moment I have a large swiffer made of the feathers of an ostrich. It cleans the statues well but it is a little too big for the cleaning of the smaller, hard to reach parts of a statue. I guess I will have no choice but to buy a make up brush as well.
Ah well, it will be for a good cause!

Compressed air from a can. Like the ones you used for computers. That works wonders.

Careful with those, guy at my LCS used it on one of the JLA animated maquettes. He held it wrong and the liquid came out and hit the statue. 3 weeks later and it cracked the paint up, sorta like it dried it out or something.

yeah if the liquid from the compressed air gets on your statue, its toast for sure. That is a seriously harsh chemical in there. The can has to be held straight and NEVER SHAKE THE CAN!!
