You hit it on the nail. There is rumor and speculation based on the Man of Steel prequel comic that shows Kara Zor-el survived that scout ship crash. That ultimately her decendents are the Amazaons and the Atlanteans.
Franky, I hope there is no Kryptonian connection.

WB is introducing the Enchantress in Suicide Squad. And the teaser shows her spelunking before becoming Enchantress. So I think that's another hint that there is "magic" in this universe.
