Great topic, Bullseye. I'm sure everyone's watched all these movies by now. Just in case though...

Spoiler
My Top Three

To me, Loki is the best MCU villain BY A WIDE MARGIN. His strained relationships with Odin and Thor make him sympathetic, despite his schemes and mischief. And Tom Hiddleston is so damn charming. You don't get that depth with most MCU villains.

Jeff Bridges is an actor of the highest caliber and he gave Obadiah Stane real menace even without the Iron Monger suit. His relationship with Stark and his move to seize the company made things personal, adding more to his role.

Not as layered as the aforementioned two, Hugo Weaving ramped up his evil meter on Red Skull to make him a worthy adversary for Cap. Red Skull had many nice scenes to build momentum - love the teased bridge battle in the burning warehouse.

Honorable Mention

I guess I have a weakness with sympathetic villains. Winter Soldier is just that. He's Cap's best bud. A brainwashed tool of Hydra. And he's formidable to boot, making you feel he could beat Cap straight up.

Dishonorable Mention

Ben Kingsley is a helluva actor. Mandarin shouldn't have been. The trailers presented such a threat that Mandarin would've landed near the top of my list. However, when the veil was lifted, all I got was a letdown Guy Pearce (by comparison) to close the show. Such a cop out.

Malekith the Accursed gets his butt kicked by Frigga. That was a terrible decision and it effectively neutered him. His other scenes spouting exposition for the Aether made him entirely forgettable as a villain.

Ultron, Ultron, Ultron. Such a divisive character. Not a bait and switch like Mandarin, but he did feel darker in the trailers. Instead, we get a wisecracking villain with barely any cold, sinister robot mannerisms. He might as well have been human.

Rounding It Out

Abomination is a nice bruiser - excellent battle - but he doesn't graduate past his grunt status. A lot of the loathing is directed at General Ross.

The combo of Ivan Vanko and Justin Hammer = more fun than Ronan the Accuser. Go Rockwell! Go Rockwell!

Overall Ranking
  1. Loki
  2. Red Skull
  3. Obadiah Stane
  4. Winter Soldier
  5. Ivan Vanko, Justin Hammer
  6. Ultron
  7. Ronan the Accuser
  8. Abomination
  9. Malekith the Accursed
  10. Mandarin

Abomination is one of the best MCU villains Ive seen so far on screen, intimidating, menacing, formidable and looked bad ass.

Ah, I forgot Abomination. They did a very good job with him I felt. Even though I put him below Ultron, who I was disappointed with. I guess I'm factoring how much of the movie the villain has to "carry". With Abomination, he was more of a support role but he was enjoyable.

Fun thread and I agree with you Bulls that some villains aren’t as great as they should/could be.

Iron Man/Obadiah Stain-Iron Monger 8/10
Iron Man 2/Justin Hammer 3/10
Iron Man 2/Ivan Vanko 6/10
Iron Man 3/Mandarin 1/10 Horrible stuff the whole concept of it.

* A really bad idea to have the villains as a joke(Hammer & Mandarin), I mean Iron Man/Tony Stark alone is funny enough for the comedy relief in his movies.

Incredible Hulk/Abomination 7/10 Has the part of the ambition and hunger of power but not a cool visual design close to the Comics.

Thor/Loki 8/10
Thor/The Destroyer 7/10 Their fight was too short but he was really cool.
Thor The Dark World/Malekith 5/10 Loki stole the show again.

Captain America The First Avenger/Red Skull 5.5/10
Captain America The Winter Soldier/Winter Soldier 10/10 Was the ultimate weapon instead of ‘villain’ but he was FREAKING AWESOME!
Captain America The Winter Soldier/Hydra behind the curtain 8/10

Avengers/Loki 9.5/10
Avengers/Chitauri Army 4/10 Cannon fodder but fun
Avengers Age Of Ultron/Ultron 6/10 The only moment I felt him menacing was when he was activated and tried to destroy Jarvis and the party.

GOTG/Ronan 8/10 A little different take from the Comics but I respect that he wanted 'a dance' with Thanos.

Ant-Man/Yellow Jacket 7/10

Bonus:
Netflix Daredevil/Wilson Fisk-Kingpin 8/10

Trask was very under used. Magneto took/stole his moments Emma was just better, plan and simple. Look and mannerisms.

Isn't Alexander Pierce technically the villain for Cap2? Winter Soldier was just a pawn.

Technically it is Pierce and Hydra. But Bucky's name is in the title.
