large bat-like wings

how would i make a good armature for those? off course i'd have to start with an armature for the large fingers, but i mean the fleshy parts in between. is super sculpey strong enough to hold/stay in it's place when it's really thin and over a larger area.

Use alluminum wire for your armeture(the limbs), take metal storm window screen, cut it to the pattern you want for the membrane part of the wings, use small guage wire and attach it to the armeture. Thread the wire through like sewing on a button.

You'll end up with a from that has the exact shape of the wing, and you can add your Sculpey, shape it, and bake. The wire screen is more than strong enough to handle manipulation of the clay, and it's very nature means that the clay will not easily come off as you sculpt.

Capes can also be created with screen.

Hope that helps.
