it is still a matter of taste ... I don't think that the new HH Hulk will cause people to like the Shifflet Hulk less ... I think you like it on it's own merit.
I really like the HH Hulk and can't wait to get mine. I love the size (bigger is always better with Hulk). I also like the more "cartoony" style but personally perfer the BD more "realistic" look.
Based upon pics, I still like the Shifflet Hulk over HH ... I will reserve judgement until I can put them next to each other for a comparison.

Once I get my Sideshow Hulks, and the new Bowen Hulk, then
it'll be up in the air, but really - ALL those new ones kick @$$.
Now about the original Bowen Hulk - seeing it compared to any
of the newer Hulk statues just makes it look that much worse
in my opinion. I think that statues have just become more refined
and amazing over time, and looking back, the standards a few years back
just aren't what they are today. Not taking anything away from the
sculptors, but times change and everybody gets better as they do
something, so any newer items coming out "should" look MUCH better
than older ones.

Once the newness wears off it's easier to compare them apples to apples, but I also agree with JS that the newer sculpts are by and large getting better, and that's reason enough to buy newer versions of character sculpts we already own and enjoy. This new HH Hulk is really well done, and definitely worth picking up!

good point about "newer being better" syndrome ... very true

the Bowen/Shifflett is awesome, and does have a realism to it , but doesn't LOOK like any rendition of the Hulk I ever read!

totally agree Ryche and I believe there are a lot of people who don't like it for that reason. This is one of the things I really appreciate about it ... I love the Shifflet bros take on the character ... I have always been a fan of the Hulk as savage monster and this is what I see in this sculpt. Maybe I should write a story line for Hulk with the artwork based on this character then everyone would love it

It looks like the Shifflett's rendition of the Hulk -- what's wrong with that?

NOTHING is wrong with that at all. ITs no different than a new artist taking over the book. Just strikes me as being an unusual decision to go "off the map" on BD's first Hulk release.

Yeah true, but Randy's second Hulk appears to have it's own unique face sculpt too. The DST Hulk looks similar to (and is based on) Dale Keown's Hulk drawing, but even that one isn't exact. I'm no sculptor but I suspect it's not easy trying to sculpt a particular artist's take on a character.

I think that decision was based more upon the Shifflet bros skillz than any desire to in with a particular ... the boyz work was probably too good not to get done
I don't know if they were commissioned to come up with a Hulk design concept or if this was something they did on their own and pitched to Randy
.... "hey Randy"
