I actually never thought about this. So I too would like some insite.

Also I would like to add another question to the mix.

Does dust affect statues in the long run?

Actually everything does .... according to my friend ... it is just a matter of degree .... I do not think there will be a problem if you are using home lighting systems ... (I foresee there might be a problem if you use those spotlight from the stadiums ....)

i think they say LED lights are best for displays.

Major thing to do is keep them away from the sun, Sunlight will fad them faster then anything.

yeah that's for sure, but also as what i have learn from lighting from photography and so on anything UV is a killer to colors if focused on for a long time. . . i have had this discussion with lots of people and everyone comes to the conclusion of "cold lighting" being best so i'm assuming that LED would fall under that. i just wouldn't want to damage my stuff

as far as dust goes i would opt for like a closed display or if you want to go all out you can maybe work a vented purified system for the display case which i've also had an idea in my head for this. . .

also when i go to museums i study their lighting systems a lot lol yeah i know strange but where else can you learn a perfect displaying system then from a museums

I read somewhere that you should dust regularly because it collects in places and attracts moisture and oils etc. That can affect the paint colour in those places so a good idea to keep everything dust free!

Plus dust looks awful anyway.

Good point all around. I try to dust my displayed pieces as often as I can. Don't have a proper display unit so hvnt come around to that yet.

well i was thinkin of having some display cased that would have the statues enclosed so i wont have to worry about dust.

but my main worries is how light affects colors. . .
