Unfortunately, that's
incorrect.
Silicone has a number of handling and display considerations that go beyond polystone - if you want to maximise the lifecycle of the silicone product.
On that point, depending on who you talk to - expected lifecycle for silicone is anything from "up to" 25 - 45yrs. Which means, at some point - with the most meticulously maintained silicone statue, you should
expect it to start to degrade!!!
This is why I'm going back to polystone or polyresin for my future collectibles. I know you can get great detailed sculpts in polystone / polyresin, and typically it's the Chinese factory paint job that let's the piece down.
I strongly believe the whole shift to silicone is of no benefit to collectors, it's only a benefit to manufacturers as it enables them to produce a more realistic statue a lot easier and cheaper. While they charge us more for what we percieve to be greater quality.
The cost to JND to make WW84 in polystone, with rooted hair and guaranteeing a high level of hyper realistic paint apps would have been prohibitively high compared to using silicone and glass eyes.
