I was pretty impressed with the tone and feel off the trailers myself.

Season 1 was pretty average but the high production value, superb set design and focus on the GCPD kept it interesting and fresh. I got one and a half episodes into season 2 before tuning out. Far too many liberties being taken with the source material now. I'm not a fan of shoehorning every villain into the narrative. I also don't like how far they've strayed from Bruce's true origin.

Finally got around to season 2 DVR marathon this week. Almost called quits after the first episode just because of more Barbara schtick combined with jim demotions at work. I'm glad I decided to keep watching because it improved greatly from there. Frankly, this show would be just another dumb cop show were it not for the villain storylines. Cobblepot, and more recently nygma, have been the biggest interests by far in this series IMO. And Cory smith's portrayal of nygma is fantastic, so I'm glad he's playing a much bigger role in season two. If I have one complaint its that the show is starting to feel more like a horror genre with all the maiming and butchering going on most every episode now, which they are showing in very graffic detail. I'd like them to tone down the spraying blood and gore a bit. It seems to cheapen the series IMO. The gore doesn't really add to the stories but just feels like a weak attempt at some shock value ratings.
