Wow, I didn't realize Inart production took a dump. I think Queen is the best, followed by JND.

I am still considering Infinity 1/2 also.

Cross country skiing is great if you live in a small country.

InArt PROTOTYPES have wonderful likeness. It?s absolutely not what you get in hand, that is supposed to be the biggest selling point. I have Gandalf. It fell well short of the prototype. The hair is even coming off in patches lol. Aragorn is terrible. In the 1/6 figure realm they are impressive and shine. In the end of the day they still look like figures. The realism is no where close to these silicone pieces. The cut and sew is also cheap in comparison. All of the above Aragorns OBLITERATE the InArt Aragorn. Here?s some up to date pics of the InArt and Infinity.
Sculpting is done using computer software these days. It is no longer done by hand like it used to. Scale makes no difference at all. Everything is 3D printed and then moulds would be created for production.

The ONLY thing that matters is the likeness. It is perfectly acceptable to compare likeness among different scales and types. There is no advantage or disadvantage because a statue or figure is in certain scale, large or small.

Quality of production pieces is completely a different and separate matter altogether. QC issues have nothing to do with the quality of the prototype. Many collectors PO statues based solely on photos of the prototype.

QC in factory comes in much latter. I won't stop comparing prototypes just because: a) It is in 1:6 scale, and b) QC issues of production pieces. To me, a good likeness is all that matters.

I collect both figures ans statues. It makes no difference to me. I don't really care. I am not the one who insists on collecting everything in the same scale, same height and same sizes, etc. rigidly.

Realism in statue is a great thing when it is done right but not everyone prefers it. It is all personal preference. You may find the cut-and-sew looks cheap in 1:6 scale figures but many are happy with it.

To each their own, I suppose.

It depends on why you're making a comparison in the first place. If it's just for 5hits & giggles, then yeah - scale, format, and QC are just noise factors - and you can go right ahead and rate those prototypes.

For most of us, the comparison serves to support a decision on what we want to buy and own. That's when those "noise factors" do come into play.

The discussion over what is advertised vs what we get, has been going on since I started collecting - and probably long before that - and it's an issue that still plagues the "hobby" today.

So while the likeness on the 1/6 version may be superior (they may as well have used an actual photo of Viggo to advertise the piece), but that's not what you're going to get on the day of the unboxing.

JND is the only company in that bunch, that actually delivers what they advertise (for better or worse) - I give them credit for that at least.

I have the Inart Aragorn in hand and while it is not in the same level as the original prototype, it still has far better likeness than Queen's and JND 1/3 pics.

I was planning to sell it to get a 1/3 (which is most of my collection), but I decided to keep it and will not get any of these.

Exactly that.

No "5hits & giggles". Who does that?

You'd be surprised - I imagine a good 90% of the critiques we read on this forum related to - this or that - statue, are coming from people who have no real intention to buy it.

I think people do it for the exchange more than anything else - while it can be frustrating for real potential customers to have to wade through the "tire kickers" opinions - on the other hand, if people didn't comment - this would just be a preview site - and nothing more.

Things tend to get nasty when the judgements evolve beyond the statue - and the actual buyers / haters get attacked for their choices - but I guess that just comes with the territory, unfortunately, most of us are guilty of that .
