It would have been better if they offered silicone and/or rooted hair options.
Gold-plated belt bling on a dark, dramatic piece feels off. Even if the gold-plated options were free (instead of $300+), I'd still go for the standard paint. I like the concept of a dark, silhouette-like Batman standing behind Bruce, and I don't want to be distracted by a flashy emblem.
It feels like the $$$ customization options were done without consultation from the original statue designers. I am sure that whoever sculpted the piece was not envisioning gold bling on random parts of the statue. This would make more sense on an Iron Man statue.
For me, the real pearls are the only interesting add-on. Martha's pearls are arguably the most symbolic items in Crime Alley. Making sure that they have a proper pearl look, instead of a potentially mediocre paint job, is important to me. If the statue was colorless and I had to add color to one area, it would be Martha's iconic pearls.
Batman is hands-down the most saturated statue license. This statue will have a hard time competing with the best in terms of detail, but the composition is so unique.
XM's Hulk Transformation has one of the best Hulk sculpts/paint jobs, but I got it because of its incredible storytelling.
We are invested in these characters because of their stories, and when a statue is able to artistically convey their stories, we can be more drawn towards that statue than vanilla hyperrealistic statues.
Supposedly, they are going to do more DC statues in this origin-to-superhero style. Perhaps they'll do a Superman standing over Kal-El in his space pod. They might also do a Wonder Woman standing behind a young Diana undergoing Amazonian training.
