Just read this myself on IGN and rushed here to post but you beat me to it.

I'm fully geeking out at the prospect of this. The Days of Future Past storyline is easily one of my top 3 all time favorite X-Men tales. Even with slight revisions to adapt it to the X-Men film universe this has HUGE potential, especially with Vaughn back in the Director's chair. This is a massive game changer compared to what we've seen so far on screen.

I can't wait, finally...... SENTINELS!!!

I'm now looking forward to this more than any other Marvel film by a mile.

Vaughn Won't Direct the X-Men Sequel

It's been decided that Matthew Vaugh, the director of X-Men First Class, won't direct the X-Men sequel. Instead he opted to work on another comic book adaptation, Mark Millar's "Secret Service".
Even though he won't direct he will still produce the sequel along with writer Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner.
Bryan Singer is rumored to take Vaugh's place as Singer is first on Fox's short list to replace Vaughn as director.

I'm not surprised by this at all. As much as I like Vaughn's work he is annoyingly fickle.

I'd love to see Singer back in the X-Men directing chair.

I cannot stand Singer as a director. He is way overrated and has been riding the X-Men train for more than a decade. What has he done since then? Manage to damn near kill the Superman franchise and tie vaughan's hands by having to stick with his canon. If Fox is smart they will dump him, and reboot with something more in the Avengers vein--which I'm sure is what they are planning for Fantastic Four. I know some folks really liked XFC and have been looking forward to the sequel. I liked it as well, but at $350M worldwide it barely hit the lower end of box office expectation. So while it wasn't the colossal flop that was Green Lantern, I'm sure Fox wasn't thrilled. And you can bet they are looking at the $1.5B the Avengers has raked in and are saying "yeah, we want that kind of money." I think the only way that would possibly get there would be a full reboot. That would give them the freedom to use the real core characters--Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Angel, Beast and Iceman, and then midway through bring in the likes of Storm, Wolverine, Colossus and maybe someone unexpected like Sunfire. All recast and with costumes closer to the comic influences. I think if Jennifer Lawrence and/or Fassbender drops out there won't be a sequel.

I thought Valkyrie was really good. Plus, before Xmen he made Usual Suspects. A great film. From what I can see, his only real black mark was Superman Returns. A very well known dud, but still his record is pretty good IMO.
